The festival has opened! It’s May 16th and that means one thing for Cannes- show time! Tonight Wes Anderson will be opening the festival with the premiere of his new film Moonrise Kingdom. We got to do a little exploring yesterday, but not much was going on as everything was still being set up.
We got tickets to the second premiere of Moonrise Kingdom tonight, so well be dolling up and hitting the Palais with class. While wandering through the Palais today we stumbled upon a press meeting for Moonrise Kingdom and got to do a little celebrity spotting and saw Edward Norton, Bruce Willis, Bill Murray, Tilda Swinton, Wes Anderson, and a bunch of the cast from the film. The paparazzi were all around, so we could only see them for a few seconds from afar, but it was fun non the less.
We put up some of our media around the short film corner today, and started to get the flavor of the area. It’s definitely a zoo as everyone is finishing their booths and getting ready for the bulk of the festival to take place. The population here has easily quadrupled from Sunday when we got here. The streets are packed and the marinas are full.
